Interview with Khabir Moraes

1. Could you please tell us little bit more about yourself, about your growth curve and getting to where you want to?



I was born in Vasco da Gamma, and brought up in Cuncolim, I spent most of my time into sports as a teenager, I only had one passion during that time, it was joining world class cruise liners... I never knew that there was a lot more in this world than just being a Seaman.

2. You are a perfect example who is way ahead of others in turning imaginations into actions. Can you please share with us during all these formative years of yours, at any point, had you ever thought you would reach where you are right now?



Yes, actually I always knew that I would reach somewhere in life, as I am still sailing in this process called life... I have still lots to do...

3. Your appetite for life to achieve more looks like insatiable; can you please shed some light when exactly you decided to pursue your dreams?



I don't know when this will come true, just waiting for the right people and the right opportunities. I just know that I am capable.

4. While doing some research on you, I realized that at a young age, you always wanted to make it big, who was your role model then and who is it now?



As a matter of fact I have no role model as such, but I did learn plenty of good skills here and there, it's like I took the best from all the skilled people who came across me.

5. As people say success begets success and without doubt it aptly applies for you. Could you please let us know about the secret of your amazing success as you made such a quick rise? Can you please share the same with our readers?



First of all, I am not yet successful. I have still a long way to go, in today's world the market in any field is become very competitive, they have already created a basic standard, a beginner has to come to that standard in order to proceed futher, but with my case iam still learning and trying to do my best in whatever I do.

6. To say the least your journey must have been a saga of ups and downs. Could you please share with us the firsthand recount of your not so happy yet enriching experiences? Can you please enlighten our viewers/readers the major hurdles you faced and how did you overcome them?



At first I started off as a freelancer, than I tried my hand on the Video camera, and it clicked for me, I have done many video experiments throughout my life, and many of them where failure's, but I know the right way to do it know as  I have failed to many times.

7. In such a short span of time you have achieved a lot which brought laurels from all corners for you. With all these impressive un-ending list of achievements, which honors gives you maximum satisfaction?



Trying my hand in Music makes me proud, as I have released my debut Konkani  Audio Album, named "VISORCHONA" in November 2009. I have written all the songs (Except Mistake konachi), and the music is also mine, (Except Visorchona goamix Ft. Allan), Music was mixed and mastered in Al. Studios, and the promo was made by my Best friend Mr. Milroy Goes.



I have also achieved the feat of Cinematographer for the gospel movie CROSS ROADS.

I have done the Cinematography for the Konkani Video MARIA MARIA by Serine and Danny.



I have also been a part of Mr. Milroy Goes short films VENGENCE and UNEXPECTED.

8. Your fans, say you are an eternal optimistic by nature who always strives for perfection. People generally take a while in learning power of disagreements but you are known for even taking criticism as an opportunity to improve. Could you please share with us the toughest Criticism you have ever received?



Yes, I have received comments before, for doing odd jobs during my free time at home, but I always did what I wanted to do, sometimes people comment on my creation, and I do the listening, and give them a chance to talk, if I like the thought... I take it, if I find them below my standard I just listen to them.. I don't loose anything. But I don't sit with an argument.

9. Can you please tell us something about the various activities that keep you busy in your spare time? Are these also related to your current profession?

I am a seaman (Exc. Sous Chef) working on luxury cruise liners for the past 10 (Ten) years now,



And whenever I come home for a vacation, I tend to do something creative, I don't waste my time being Idle, I don't want the devil to make his workshop in my mind.

10. Success in some way is about creating extra-ordinary results with limited resources and you are generating lot of waves despite experiencing so many hurdles in the past, can you please tell us which has been your best or 'unforgettable' performance till date?



As I said, the release of my debut Konkani album "VISORCHONA" was the most challenging task till date.... I am proud of the CD.

11. You are known for your creativity, can you please tell us any innovative idea you are trying these days? What's going through your mind these days?



There are many thoughts going around me these days, sometimes I just think of doing a quick documentary film on Goan toddy tappers,  or a typical baker, or a farmer, there is actually plenty to do, but Milroy and myself and thinking something big.... husssssshhh.

12. I really appreciate your Attitude of Gratitude and the way you keep mentioning various people for the guidance provided by them to you. I am sure it would be quite interesting to know, who supported you most in your career and kept the hunger continuously alive in you?



First, my parents, they never interfered in whatever I was doing, my uncle, Mr. Richard Sedlackek, was a big influence in my life as I learned all the tricks from him, as far as music is concerned I am a big fan of Micheal Learns To Rock.(MLTR) and Lucky Ali, I just love their music.



And I have been a big fan of Mr. Remo Fernandes, because I can smell the soil of Goa, from his music.

13. Would you recommend the younger generation to follow your foot steps and become like you? If yes, what path (studies, courses, experience) do you recommend for the younger generation should choose, to get into Video Direction like you?



I would say "Think about what you enjoy doing the most" turn it into your profession, and the world will pay for you, what you enjoy doing .OR NOT ?
